AKAKLASSIC History
The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Incorporated, is proud to highlight AKAKLASSIC, a signature fundraising event that has made a significant impact since its inception in 2012. Originating under the leadership of the Foundation’s 7th President, Mrs. Joyce L. Nelson, Ed.D., and driven by Fundraising Chairmen Michelle R. Clark and Tiffany Wicks, AKAKLASSIC has evolved into a vital source of support for our Foundation’s initiatives.
The ”KLASSIC” began as an elegant event in August 2012 designed to raise funds for scholarships, mentoring programs and community service initiatives in the Chicago Southland. The inaugural event set the tone for an annual tradition of festive generosity and community spirit.
In 2014 AKAKLASSIC transitioned to a daytime party broadening both its appeal and accessibility. This shift also allowed for greater community participation and created an even more dynamic and engaging atmosphere.
The funds raised through AKAKLASSIC directly support the core initiatives of the Twenty Pearls Foundation, Incorporated, including:
· Scholarships: Providing financial assistance to deserving students, helping them achieve their educational goals.
· Mentoring Programs: Offering guidance, support and training to young people in our community, empowering them to succeed.
· Community Service: Engaging in projects that enhance the quality of life in the Chicago Southland area, i.e., holiday food baskets, seasonal wrap giveaways, headwraps for cancer patients, and student made blankets for seniors.
Since 2014, attendees have come together to enjoy entertainment and networking all while contributing to a cause that makes a tangible difference in the lives of many.

On Sunday, September 22, 2024 the members of Twenty Pearls Foundation, Inc. partnered with the members of Lambda Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc will host AKAKlassic 2024. AKAKlassic is more than a day party with a purpose…It’s an experience!
The funds raised support mentoring programs, collegiate scholarships, and community programs through Twenty Pearls Foundation, Inc. AKAKlassic is a sophisticated gathering of professionals looking to enjoy themselves while supporting a worthy cause. Our cigar lounge, vendors, and electric atmosphere caters to guests of all backgrounds.
